About Me
I began backpacking in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula more than a decade ago, and quickly took to it. I thru-hiked the Superior Hiking Trail along Minnesota's North Shore in 2014, then thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 2017. Since 2018, I've been section-hiking the North Country Trail in the Upper Midwest and have thus far conquered over 1100 miles of it.
I'm born and raised in Minnesota, and have spent my entire life living in the Midwest, far from the mountains. I advocate strongly that the best place to learn to hike and camp is close to home, and that you best not trek into the mountains without having some experience in the wilderness first. Adventure comes in packages big and small, and too often we overlook the little gifts all around us and in our own backyard.
